Carmel Valley

Carmel Valley

Curiously while Carmel Valley is considered one of San Diego’s newer, planned communities, it originally derived its name from the “Carmelite Sisters of Mercy”, who established a dairy farm and monastery in the area back in 1905. Much later in 1975, the City of San Diego formed a master-planned community, with residential neighborhoods and identified the project as North City West. Residents, however, re-adopted the name Carmel Valley in 1991, and the area is now thriving with office building complexes, expansive commercial growth, a wide variety of housing options, schools, hotels, and restaurants.

The area is home to many growing families, as a younger demographic seems to prevail throughout, with multiple opportunities existing for new business start-ups and great potential for first-time home ownership. Carmel Valley surely bears watching and has added a component to North County San Diego that needed addressing and will continue to flourish as the area meets the requirements of so many!
