Five New Restaurants To Visit in North County in 2020
Did you know that San Diego ranks in the Top 5 of “Top U.S. Destinations for Food Lovers”?
It’s no surprise that North County is adding even more delicious locations to its roster in 2020. From breakfast and brunch to happy hour and hangouts, I’ve rounded up new North County dining and drinking locations making their debut to our community this year.
I always welcome locations to meet friends outside, and this 5,600-square-foot restaurant and beer garden concept is sure to bring a crowd to Del Mar. The concept is from San Diego’s Social Syndicate Hospitality Group and will open early this year on the top of Del Mar Plaza Shopping Center. Nothing better than an after-work destination with great food and beer, especially when it’s steps away from our Compass Del Mar office!
Location: 1555 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar
This May, Del Mar’s One Paseo will be welcoming well-known Los Angeles restaurant, Nick’s. Its first San Diego location, the restaurant will feature an island bar and exhibition kitchen with American classics. It will be located next to one of my personal favorites, International Smoke, and has a huge following in Los Angeles and Orange County. Looking forward to checking it out!
Location: 3377 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego
Del Mar Highlands Town Center is adding even more excitement to their Center this spring with the opening of The Sky Deck; a restaurant collection with eight to ten destinations and a brewer’s deck. They’ll have a variety of cuisines to choose from like Lobster West (New England fare) , Urbana Mexican Gastronomy (Mexican) , Ziziki’s (Greek), Le Parfait (French), Thai Extraordinary, and a Mediterranean concept. All of this is a part of Del Mar Highland’s $120 million dollar expansion and is another opportunity to explore their newest tenants close by like Vuori and DIESEL, a Bookstore.
Location: 12925 El Camino Real, San Diego.
This spring, Waverly Restaurant & Lounge will be making its way to Cardiff featuring an elevated menu created by executive chef Brian Redzikowski. The restaurant will be open from 9am to midnight Sundays to Wednesdays and until 1am Thursdays to Saturdays, and will feature a classic coastal design. You can’t go wrong with some late night bites, especially when they include dishes like wild mushroom roast and chicken schnitzel.
Location: 2005 San Elijo Ave., No. 1726, Cardiff
Such a San Diego classic! I personally have been visiting their locations across the city for years and am excited there will be one closer to home. The breakfast joint will be opening their fourth location in Flower Hill Promenade this April. If you haven’t been before, the Apple pancake is a must-try. Think along the lines of an apple pie dessert in the form of breakfast.
Location: 2670 Via de la Valle, Del Mar
