Here’s to 2021!

Hello, and here’s to 2021! While most are cursing the year past, I’m counting down the moments to the new year, and welcoming all the possibilities that lie ahead. I’ve never been more grateful for the bounty of opportunities I’ve experienced and would like to take a moment to recognize the year 2020 for the challenges, and lessons it brought. With that said, I‘d also like to extend great empathy to all who have lost loved ones, livelihoods, or fiercely battled the struggles of COVID-19. Along with remembering the trials we’ve endured, I choose to see the silver linings that edged the black cloud of the year that’s now almost completely in our rear-view mirror.
First and foremost, I’m grateful for the good health, security and stability of family and friends, both old and new, that filled this past 365 days. In such confusing times, it’s reassuring to find comfort in the familiar, like a supportive and energetic professional community, an office of creative associates with which to work, an area that is always quick to remind us of the blessing of sunshine and a beautiful day, as well as the benefit of simple pleasures, like a walk on the beach with my dog, McLaren, or the gift of time for random drives with my Dad through this beautiful place that I’ve always been blessed to call home…San Diego.
Even with the many restrictions and new guidelines that entered our lives, so too came occasions to introduce clients to living spaces that better accommodated their needs. Discovering innovative new methods in the midst of a pandemic, assisted me in negotiating and closing some of the greatest deals of my career; the occasions to connect and engage with people in ways never conceived previously; learning updated technologies geared towards solving problems have all been gifts. Those circumstances were also, not so gentle yet vital reminders of my mentor, my Mom, and the wise words that guided her path, “respond rather than react!” Perhaps never more has that edict meant, or taught me, so much? The challenge to adapt and grow was ever present and helped open my mind to new possibilities and fresh solutions. It is with a renewed perspective and positive momentum, that I look towards the future, and am eager to prove how I can best serve my clients, my profession and our community.
As we bid goodbye to 2020, while celebrating its lessons, I feel more fortunate than ever to welcome and share the rewards of the year ahead with you!
Happy New Year and always!
Fondly,
Garret
