Six Must-Attend San Diego Events in March

Head outdoors with festivals, parades, and sporting events all-month-long

Can you feel spring? It’s right around the corner! With the change in seasons, March always seems to have a variety of outdoor events to choose from. From celebrating your Irish heritage to cheering on your favorite athlete, check-out these top events in San Diego for the month of March.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

Saturday, March 14th 10:30AM
Balboa Park

You can’t think of the month of March without St. Patrick’s Day! Whether you’re Irish or just like partaking in the celebrations, the free Balboa Parade and Festival is not one to miss. Annually, there are more than 30,000 attendees enjoying the parade with Irish dancers, bag-pipers, floats and more. Don’t worry, Balboa Park has plenty of room for the party-goers.

The Irish festival following the parade is just as fun, with live music on three stages, craft booths, kids’ zone, beer garden, and Celtic food village. See more information here.

Best Coast Beer Fest

Saturday, March 21st 12:00 – 4:00PM
Embarcadero Marina Park North

As a craft beer lover, this event is one of my favorites! It’s no surprise San Diego is a craft beer hub, and the Best Coast Beer Festival brings over 100 of the West Coast’s best breweries together in America’s Finest City.

The festival sees nearly 5,000 beer lovers each year with over 200 brew varieties to choose from, crafted from California to Washington. Every ticket sold goes to support Cuck Fancer and helps young adult cancer patients and survivors. I’ll be there! Who’s joining me? Tickets range from $60 to $135. Check out the event here.

Carlsbad 5000

March 21st & 22nd times vary
Jefferson St & Grand Avenue

35 years in the making! The annual Carlsbad 5000 is back for another year with an oceanfront running course suitable for all ages. Experience beautiful views and an energetic atmosphere during the race. After crossing the finish line, celebrate your achievement at the Party by the Sea in the Pizza Port beer garden with live music and high fives all around. Event sign up and details here.

Kia Classic

March 23rd-29th
Park Hyatt Aviara

Some of the biggest names in the LPGA tour are heading to the Park Hyatt Aviara to duke it out for $1.8 million dollars at the annual Kia Classic. Usually producing one of the strongest fields on the LPGA Tour, the eleventh annual Kia Classic will feature 144 of the nation’s best women golfers. Full event details and tickets here.

SD Padres Opening Day

Thursday, March 26th 1:10PM
Padres Field

Let’s get ready to play ball! Nothing feels like spring more than being at the Padres season home opener game with brew and ballpark hotdog in hands. This year the Padres are taking on the Colorado Rockies. Tickets and details here

Uncorked: San Diego Wine Festival

Saturday, March 28th 1-5PM

If there is an event for beer-lovers, it’s only fair they have one for winos! The San Diego wine festival will be held at the Embarcadero Marina Park North. Guests can sip over 200 wines and ciders from across the globe, dive into the bubbly bar, dance to live the live DJ, and explore some of San Diego’s best food trucks.

Tickets range from $65-$75 dollars and proceeds will benefit the local non-profit, Urban Surf 4 Kids. Interested in going? Check it out here.
